Our Guest Speaker: Dr. Russell Evans

Dr. Evans will be speaking about the local, state, national and global economic outlook for 2016 with an emphasis on how declining oil prices have impacted the Oklahoma economy.

Russell Evans is the Executive Director of the Steven C. Agee Economic Research and Policy Institute at Oklahoma City University.  Dr. Evans specializes in local tax analysis, regional economic forecasting, economic impact analysis, and leads a research staff whose work is regularly recognized for its contribution to public discussion in both local and national media markets.  Dr. Evans enjoys being in the classroom and has enjoyed opportunities to offer classes at Oklahoma City University, The University of Central Oklahoma, The University of Tulsa, and Oklahoma State University.  Dr. Evans co-founded the Economic Impact Group in 2005, an Oklahoma City based consulting firm and served as the Director of the Center for Applied Economic Research at Oklahoma State University from 2009 to 2011, before moving to Oklahoma City University.  Dr. Evans is a member of the American Economic Association, the Missouri Valley Economic Association, and the National Association for Business Economics.

Since arriving at Oklahoma City University, Dr. Evans and the ERPI staff have completed projects for the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board, the City of Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma Telephone Alliance, Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma State Auditor’s Office, the Oklahoma Film and Music Office, Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma, Devon Energy, the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association, and many other groups including work with the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Potawatomi, and Creek Nations.

When not on campus, Dr. Evans enjoys traveling and relaxing with his family.  He has lived abroad, speaks conversational Portuguese, and currently resides in Edmond, OK with his wife, three beautiful daughters, and handsome son.
